Wellbeing only becomes truly meaningful when it is structurally embedded in the workplace culture. It’s about maintaining a healthy flow of energy, physically, mentally, relationally, and existentially.
In our programmes, we increasingly see people struggling with fatigue, imbalance, and the constant feeling of having to keep all the balls in the air. That’s why we take a holistic view, looking at the whole person and the full context of life. Work and private life are inseparable, as are body and mind.
The Energy Wheel is a powerful tool in this process. It helps visualise where energy flows and where it drains away. Energy problems arise when the balance between demands and personal capacity remains disrupted over time. Stress distorts this balance: it may be functional in the short term, but over the long run, the system becomes depleted.
We often see that people in such situations make choices that offer short-term relief but reinforce the problem in the long term. A mismatch between someone’s talents and the expectations of their role can also lead to energy loss, when work continuously feels like an effort rather than a source of fulfilment. In addition, our ability to recover from stress decreases when we experience too little or too much tension.
That’s why it’s essential to make conscious lifestyle choices. Through the Energy Wheel, we help people recognise those choices and create space for self-care. What works for one person may not work for another. By making the topic visible and open for discussion, people regain a sense of choice and agency. They get back in the driver’s seat of their own lives. And employees who feel well and energised make all the difference in their organisation.
